Parish Bulletin

Today is Shrove Tuesday. Historically,  Shrove Tuesday is the day that precedes Ash Wednesday. As it is determined by Easter, the actual date changes on an annual basis. The name Shrove Tuesday comes from 'shrive', meaning absolution for sins by doing penance. The day gets its name from the tradition of Christians trying to be 'shriven' before Lent.  In this way, we use all our food ingredients to make treats such as pancakes to prepare ourselves for the four main aspects of Lent: fasting, almsgiving, prayer and repentance.

Today, we also launched the Caritas Project Compassion within our school, spreading the main message of, 'Go further together'. Each class will have a Project Compassion Box encouraging students and staff to donate any money they can to the great cause of assisting others nationally and internationally. A box will also be located at the main office.

Whole School Ash Wednesday Mass is scheduled for 9:15a.m in the school hall. Everyone is welcome to join us to celebrate the beginning of Lent with the school community.

Working with you in partnership.
