Year 10 VCAL Bike Ride

Last week the Year 10 VCAL students completed their major semester project by undertaking a cycling excursion to Tower Hill. The excursion was entirely planned by the students, and met their Learning Outcomes for Unit 1 of Personal Development Skills.

The students divided themselves into 3 groups for the activity based on their interests and abilities:

  1. The Cyclists, who rode from Pertobe Road to Tower Hill and back
  2. The Caterers, who prepared the BBQ lunch for everyone at Tower Hill
  3. The Support Crew, who shadowed the riders and provided technical and medical support throughout the ride.

This was the students first attempt at planning a major project, and they did an amazing job to plan and undertake the excursion to completion. They faced many setbacks over the day (as any project does), but they were able to overcome these setbacks with great resilience to remain on task and on schedule. Because of this the day was a great success.
