Assistant Principal's Report

It certainly continues to be a busy time at Warrnambool College with our students participating in a wide variety of activities such as the Indonesian Festival, Childer’s House Out of Uniform celebrations (including a spaghetti eating Competition), 40 Hour Famine and numerous sporting events.

Art's Cup

This Thursday we are holding our annual Arts Cup with a number of students showcasing their talents. This is always a great day and we wish our talented performers all the best. This day also doubles as a fundraising day for our SEA Team, with students encouraged to dress up in their beanies and crazy socks.

Year 7 Immunisations

A reminder to all Year 7's that Tuesday the 11th is the next round of immunisations.

Tall Poppy Awards

This Friday is our annual Tall Poppy Awards honouring past alumni who have made significant contributions to their chosen fields. It is always inspiring to see the recipients who were taught and shaped by this school become successful and dedicated adults. If you wish to attend these awards please RSVP to the main office ASAP.

Year 12 study sessions - Elevate

Elevate Sessions

Our Year 12's have the great opportunity this week to attend sessions run by Elevate to assist in the lead up to their exams. These sessions will give them tips and tricks on studying, time management and revision, designed to help them get the most out of their hard work in the exam period. This is highly recommended and extremely beneficial to all Year 12 students.

The 5:1 Ratio

This year all staff have been working on incorporating positive psychology strategies into all aspects of our school. One tangible strategy that staff have been working on is “the 5:1 ratio.” Research suggests that for a healthy relationship to thrive we need 5 positive interactions for every negative interaction that we have, this includes the relationship we have with people that we love at home and our professional relationships at work too. It sounds challenging to do this at all times in a school environment at first, however when you include non-verbal communication such as a smile, a nod, a wave or holding a door open and simple verbal communication such as saying hi and using someone’s name it can become quite easy. We hope that all members of the Warrnambool College community are noticing the effort that all staff are making to make this a welcoming environment for everyone in our community.
