Performing Arts Update
Guest artist, James Voller, visits Loch Primary School
The Senior Performing Arts class had a special visitor on Friday May 18. James Voller, a renowned photographic artist, came to discuss ways in which he can assist us with our school production which is scheduled for Friday November 9. James is staying in Loch for 5 days as a guest of the Loch Arts Council. He has been funded by Gippsland Creative Arts to work on an exciting night time light show to be held in Loch in a few months’ time. He will be projecting images onto local landmarks of photographs he is taking around Loch while he is here as an artist- in-residence. His website James Voller is well worth having a look at to see the quality of his previous work in this field.
Our students have begun working on a story line for our production that will be able to incorporate some of James’ photography as backdrops for the performance. A production differs from a concert because it has linking dialogue that connects the songs and dances into a sequential narrative. All students are currently learning the key songs, dances and instrumental parts for their year level in Friday Performing Arts classes. Additional dialogue and more complex verses of songs are being undertaken by those interested students who are eager to do extra performing. These sessions are running throughout Monday during library time after students have borrowed their books and the students were surveyed for their personal choice to determine those most interested. We will keep you posted on further developments in our growing performance program.
