Junior School

Prep - Year 2

The Preps have had a marvellous term learning all about 'Living Things' in our Inquiry Unit.

We identified the requirements for something to be recognised as living (it needs to grow, move, change, consume food, produce waste and reproduce).

We have also discussed the basic needs of a living thing to survive and thrive (access to food, water, shelter).  We looked at different types of environments and appropriate conditions where living things can be found.   We learnt about the life cycles of living things (humans, birds, frogs, butterflies and plants).

The students enjoyed visiting the Melbourne Zoo as well as hand raising our very own plants in the classroom, measuring their height and ensuring they have water and access to sunlight. In the last week of term, the students had fun with their projects  'Habitats in a Shoebox'.
