A Warm Welcome to our Weeden Heights Community

A warm welcome to our community

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We have now completed our third full term at school.  There have been many absences but we have made it!  Fingers crossed with the warmer weather things will continue to improve. It has been a massive change from the situation we were all in at the same time last year.

As the term comes to an end…..

Farewell to our Wellbeing Officer

I was very sad for our school to receive Nicole’s resignation last week.  Nicole joined our community in the middle of the pandemic and ‘hit the ground running’ providing support for our school and the community. She has done an outstanding job working with positivity and passion.  I would like to thank her for everything that she has done for our school over the past two years and wish her all the very best in her new full time position at a child care centre.  She will be fabulous (but is welcome back at Weeden Heights any time!).

Thank you Nicole!  Good luck and best wishes from all of us!

Recruitment for a replacement wellbeing officer is currently underway and we are hopeful for an amazing person to join our school and to support our community.  I will keep you all up to date.

Footy Colours Day

Don’t forget to wear football colours tomorrow!  Our wonderful PFA will also be providing our special ‘footy themed lunch’.  We love our dress up days at Weeden Heights so it will be great to see all of the colours. Go Bombers!

Capital Works and Moving

Well, we have nearly all moved to the top corridor.  The junior school students have transitioned well into their new learning space while parents are adjusting to their new  pick up and drop off points.  OSHC has now fully moved to the hall and they are enjoying their new space. Great work everyone and we will all be ready to start the new term and ‘power on’ with learning.

As we return to the new term, you will not see too much of change at school as the builders will be working up in the school’s new server room.  The main office will still be located in its current position but will be moving to the library in coming weeks.

Workforce Planning

Our indicative budget for 2023 will be released by the department at the end of this week so my focus will now be about developing a school budget.   The budget will be finalised using actual figures and not estimated figures. Accurate information is critical in setting up the budget so we can accommodate for our students and their needs.

If you intend leaving Weeden Heights and your children will be starting at another school next year, can you please let me know, in writing, so that we can make the necessary adjustments to our calculations and the Weeden Heights PS budget.

End of Term 3

Well done everyone, we have made it through a massive term.  My highlight was definitely having the opportunity to go to camp with half of the school.  It was incredible!

On Friday we will have a short assembly under the sails from 2.15pm.  Parents are welcome to attend but we would appreciate if parents could stand back and allow the students to sit under the sails with their class.

School finishes early at 2.30pm.  Please ensure you have made arrangements for the collection of your children at this earlier dismissal time.  If you are unable to make the 2.30pm finish time then please book your children into the OSHC program.

That is all from me so have a safe and enjoyable term break and we look forward to seeing you on our return to term 4.

Thanks again for all of your ongoing support.  We are very lucky to have such a wonderful community.

Until next time……

Kylie Campbell
