What have we been doing in PE?

Luna & Achilles Communities (Preps)

This term we ran a very successful PMP program. Students were able to improve their eye/hand and eye/foot coordination, fitness, balance, locomotion and eye-tracking skills. We have used all different kinds of equipment, including stompers, climbing frames, balance beams, agility poles and introduced students to different balls for different sports. We loved having the help of our fantastic 5/6 students and hope to continue this next term!

Argus, Xenica & Ulysses Communities (Year 1 & 2)

The Argus, Xenica & Ulysses Communities, spent the last part of Term 3 working on their skills for our Commonwealth Games. These activities focused on Fundamental Motor Skills including, throwing, catching, kicking, running and jumping. We even managed to incorporate some Specialised Motor Skills in our modified Hockey and Volleyball matches!

Apollo & Icarus Communities (Year 3 & 4)

The second half of Term 3, the 3/4 communities have had a big focus on Tennis. We have been lucky enough to have a 3-week program where coaches from Hume Tennis have come in to teach students some new skills! We will end this program with a fourth session at the Hume Tennis Centre.

We have also been looking at some new games which involve a lot of strategy and a tonne of teamwork. One of them has been Capture the Flag. Students have loved playing against each other and we have love seeing their competitiveness come out!

Monarch Community (Year 5&6)

Like the 3/4's, the 5/6 communities have also been learning the game of Tennis and the skills required to be successful during a match. They also participated in the 3-week program with coaches from Hume Tennis and will end their program with a fourth session at the Hume Tennis Centre.

During our second sessions, we have focused on practicing our Gala Day games which are Capture the Flag and End Zone. They have been a massive hit and it's awesome to see the confidence build over the weeks!

What have we been doing in Sport?

Winter B-League Gala Day

On September 2nd, we sent forty 5/6 students to compete against the district in 2 games: Capture the Flag and End Zone. The students did amazingly and showed great sportsmanship. Each team won a handful of games and made some new friends from the surrounding schools!

3-6 Tennis Excursion

On Tuesday and Thursday of week 10, the 3-6's travelled to Hume Tennis Centre for a morning of fun! Students did multiple rotations, each with different types of activities related to Tennis. It was a great way to end the term and we are very thankful for Hume Tennis for accomodating such a large group!

Footy Day

Our annual Footy Day was on Wednesday 14th September this year. Students were invited to dress in their favourite footy team's colours, whether that be AFL, soccer or rugby. We had competitions, such as goal kicking, colouring and a footy quiz. Well done to the winners: Calliopi (Prep G), Mohammed A (12C), 34D & E and 56E!
