Reception

RECEPTION
6.1 Staff
The College has one office (reception) servicing the needs of all sections of the College. The Business Manager reports directly to the Principal and manages the office. If the teaching staff wish to have the office staff undertake additional duties or have any concerns regarding office related matters, such issues should be taken to the Business Manager for resolution.
In general, the ready access that staff have to computers and to professional development means that they are expected to prepare their own classroom and organisational materials.
Reception staff take their lunch break between 11.30am – 1.30pm.
6.2 Photocopier
Each staff member is allocated a coded access number or card that provides access to photocopiers.
Photocopiers are located:-
- Two photocopiers (one at either end of the staff workroom)
- Library
- Senior School Office
- G Block
- S Block
- Early Years
Please use the colour copier sparingly as the costs to the school and the environment are high. The small photocopier in the general office is for admin staff only.
6.3 First Aid
Stacey Tsalikidis, Kim Mansfield and Emma Wagner are the First Aid Attendants, and they are located in Reception. They should be asked to see any student who has suffered an injury while at school even if such a visit is only precautionary. Sick students are also sent to them. If they are unavailable check with Reception to see who else can then handle first aid issues. The classroom teacher usually deals with primary students’ ailments and there is a sickbay in the primary building for students who need to lie down.
However, students suspected of requiring significant first aid should be seen by either Stacey, Kim or Emma. They also see all primary students who report ill at lunchtime. All primary students must be taken, not sent to Reception. Portable first aid kits are prepared by Stacey/Kim and should be taken on any excursion where students could be injured (eg, sport) and on all camps.
All staff are currently up-to-date with their first aid/CPR.
6.4 VASS
JoAnne McBain is responsible for data entry into the VASS system. JoAnne is located in the reception area. The Principal will oversee the management of the VASS system.
6.5 Attendance
The accurate completion of attendance rolls is a priority for all classroom teachers. All rolls in COMPASS must be marked at the beginning of each class or if there is any change to a student attendance during the class.
The Attendance Officer is jointly responsible for the attendance data entry into COMPASS for records of student attendance. Where a student is required to attend an alternative activity or class, it is imperative that staff supply timely and accurate information regarding this change or student absence from their scheduled classes to the Attendance Officer. All telephone calls received in Reception from a parent/carer advising of an absence will be updated on COMPASS by the Attendance officer.
Staff who see students for other than a timetabled class, such as Student Wellbeing, SRC meeting or other, must advise Reception of the student's name and year level before or directly after the non-timetabled activity so that attendance can be updated promptly.
