Year 9 Photorealism Drawings
The Year 9 Art students have explored the concept of photorealism using graphite pencils. This task focused on developing each student’s skills in manipulating tone, proportion and scale. The students applied the ‘Grid Transfer’ technique to masterfully render a photograph into a pencil drawing.
Scientific Illustration
Year 10 Visual Art students have been creating an illustration for scientific purposes.
They have built their knowledge and skills in this field of study by studying a scientific illustrator of their choice, including the techniques used and then creating a scientific drawing of a chosen insect using watercolour and fine liner.
Architectural Studio Design
Year 9 students had to design a studio for “Kids Under Cover” that showed its exterior within an environment. They applied architectural drawing conventions to both manual and digital drawings. The studio had to suit a sixteen-year-old and was to be no larger than 18 square metres. The digital work was created using SketchUp for Schools.
Year 8 Still Life Drawings
The Year 8s explored positive and negative space through still life drawings. The students learned to create a contour line drawing from observation and then apply ‘Zentangle’ patterns to the background.
Year 10 Self Portrait Bust
The Year 10 students are currently using careful observation to create a naturalistic bust of themselves using Air-dry clay. The busts will eventually be finished with a metallic patina to replicate the looks of a cast metal sculpture.
