All students completing at least one Year 12 subject completed the GAT on Wednesday 7th September. The GAT took on a new format this year requiring all students to sit a Literacy and Numeracy test in the morning and the more traditional GAT format in the afternoon. It was a long day of testing for students. This is the start of the external assessments for Year 12 students this year with many students getting ready for Language Oral exams from early October. Many Year 12 subjects are now finishing the content for the year and starting the exam revision.
This time of year always brings thoughts and discussions about next year. The Year 12 students have been planning their University/TAFE applications while we are working through the subject selection information for the 2022 Year 10-12 students. We are making decisions, finalising the blocking grids for the Year 10 -12 subjects for next year. Some students have been spoken to as we work through which classes will run and how many classes of each. This always involves some difficult decisions and we try to work with students to ensure career pathways are looked after.
Once we have completed that part of the process we will continue to contact any students who have subject clashes. Students should be sent a copy of their subject allocations before the end of term or very early next term.
I would just like to give a reminder to parents of Year 10 students. Year 10 students need to pass most of their subjects this year to progress to VCE next year. We need to be confident that they are ready for the VCE subjects they have selected.

Year 11 Ski Camp
At the very end of winter, 53 Year 11s went on ski camp to Mt Buller. Over half of them had never skied before, but they showed amazing grit and determination, and by the third day they were all out there, using the ski lifts and sliding down the hill.
It was a great opportunity for the students to socialise and spend time together. They were all really supportive of one another, and feedback from the staff at our accommodation was that they were very helpful, and pleasant to have stay. With it being my first time running this camp, they made it so easy, despite us needing to rush around, having to get equipment dry and organised and to our lessons each day. Thanks also to all the teachers who came along and helped as well, including one preservice teacher who conducted themselves really well too!
Despite a frankly terrible Tuesday (redeemed by a nice bit of snowfall in the morning), we were rewarded with a beautiful sunny day on the Wednesday, and everybody used as much of the time that they could out on the snow. Feedback at school has been that it was a really fun camp, and it was great to finally get to go on camp with this group after being their coordinator in 2020.
