Languages Corner
Term 3 has been again full of learning and experiences in our language classes!
Last week, the Year 8 Japanese immersion students conducted a heart dissection to learn about the chambers, valves and vessels of the heart. Earlier this term, students learned about cellular structures and body systems. They produced some amazing 3D models of cells with Japanese labels to showcase their understanding, many using recycled materials.
みなさん、よくがんばりました!
This term, 7C has been learning French through drama. They’ve danced to Brigitte Bardot, worked up a sweat doing “dialogues sportifs” and pretended to be snooty customers in the local boulangerie. They’ve also had a lot of fun borrowing from the props room! As they always say in the theatre, “Prenez des risques et soyez ridicule!” (Take risks and be ridiculous!).
In the Year 7 French first language class, students explored the place of humans in nature and studied texts and images questioning the possible future of human beings. In this context, students read several science-fiction short stories and had write their own short story. They were able to show a lot of imagination in creating our future!
Finally, students from the Year 9 immersion class as well as Years 10, 11 and 12 French students participated in the written exam of the Berthe Mouchette competition. Year 11 and 12 students also participated in the oral exam. Our students achieved amazing results overall. Congratulations to all the students who participated and good luck to all our finalists! Bravo à tous!
