VCAL Car Show
The THIRD VCAL Car Show may have been the best one yet. The cars on show were beautiful, high performance vehicles with grunt. It was amazing to see the faces of the young students and how they reacted to the cars on display. Another huge success! We look forward to putting on this important college event again in 2023.
KHPS Buddy Day
Shae Doyle and Jacinta Reid took eight year eleven students to Karingal Heights Primary school for an hour and ran some little activities with them. It was awesome to see everyone getting involved and getting to know each other. They completed this day successfully by working together and having
multiple meetings beforehand to make sure everyone was on the same page and the day was organized. The students received positive feedback from the Primary school they said they were very happy with how mature
and responsible the McClelland College students were.
Fitness with Jaz
Over the past 7 weeks I have trained the teachers in high intensity interval training, strength and conditioning and circuit training. We have been doing this every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday lunchtime in the McClelland college gym. It was great seeing everyone involved and giving it their absolute best. This has been a great opportunity for myself as I am currently studying my cert III in fitness and gaining knowledge training individuals multiple times a week. Over the past 7 weeks I have had to organise my days by developing a program for each of the days and making sure to set things up to make everything run smoothly. Jaz Nicholson (Year 12)
Car Wash
We did the car wash on Tuesday the 6th. We roughly did around 17+ cars. Started from 9am and finished around 3:20pm including clean up. All of us thought we did a decent job, but some cars didn't get fully done to our satisfaction due to time consumption and a lot of cars constantly rolling in. The equipment we used were a pressure washer, Armoral wash and wax soap, 4 sponges, 3 buckets, a hose and power extension cord. We pursued the project at the bus shed, using the tap in there as our main water source.
Sincerely, Liam, Robbie, Kobe, Cayden, Lachy, Aaron, Baz and Rohan.

Indigenous Mural
As a group we decided on painting a giant mural of indigenous art to not only be inclusive but also add a massive part of colour to the headquarters, our goal for this was to make it as aesthetically pleasing as we can as well as helping our indigenous students and emerging students feel more comfortable and more included, in doing this we added a lot of indigenous symbols and animals like the rainbow serpent and the three sisters. all the way to the roof are painted in indigenous ideologies.
2023 Captains
The Captains have been chosen for the 2023 cohort. After an intensive interview and application process, the students were informed of their selection into this fantastic group. 5 VCAL students have made the cut for 2023! What a great representation for this group of legends. In Term 4, these students will attend a Captains Training Day and will find out their specific role. Until now, keep being great role models!
Biodiversity Audit (Year 12s)
We only have one planet, and we have to take care of it. Our Year 12 VCE Vocational Major students embarked on a new unit to Measure their Impact, whereby they needed to research issues facing our planet and threatening our Biodiversity.
To begin our unit, the Year 12s visited two locations to gather information on sustainability practices, and the native biodiversity in the Bunurong lands on which our school exists. This was accomplished by visiting Melbourne Zoo and the Cranbourne Botanical Gardens.
As a group we worked hard to calculate our school's biodiversity score and we ended up with a 77/100 using the Resource Smart Schools Biodiversity Audit Tool.
With this number we chose projects that would increase our school's biodiversity score and make a positive impact on our environment and our land. Venture through our Year 12 projects to see the impact and contributions they have made to our school. Navigate through our website to discover more about our students group projects and how we have shared our knowledge with our community.
Football Day
(At the time of writing, this event had not taken place. However, we can assume that… ) The Football Day was a huge success. The clinics ran over the course of the day were fun and gave the younger students a chance to interact with Seniors over a shared love of footy. The staff v student was a great way to finish the day in a hard fought contest.
VCAL Showcase
What a fantastic event! The year 11 students have put on an art extravaganza this week to finish their “Industry” unit. The art works on display were impressive and the room was dressed up like a professional art gallery. We had ex-students drop in and reminisce about their golden years in VCAL too. It was amazing to see the whole group come together and contribute to a collaborative project on such a big scale. Thank you must go out to Ms Lindemann for putting this together and getting it from an idea into an event. We look forward to what this group can put together next year!
