Archbishop Visits Shelford – 8 September

We are delighted to welcome the Archbishop of Melbourne, The Most Reverend Dr Philip Freier to help us celebrate 100 years since Helenslea became a part of Shelford. Emily Dixon, the founder of Shelford, and the Council of St Mary’s (now Oaktree) formed a partnership in 1922. Shelford Girls’ School became an Anglican School and moved to Helenslea in Hood Crescent after the donation of the mansion to the school.

This celebration will include both our Junior and Senior School leaders attending a service on Thursday in the final period to honour our shared history and future with the Anglican church.

Father Figures Chapel

We were delighted to invite all our important people to our Father Figures Chapel last Friday morning in Junior School. It was wonderful to see so many parents come along. We were very blessed to have a beautiful performance by our Year 4’s on all the best dad jokes! I am so grateful to Karla Nyhuis who organised this in just under two weeks.

We welcome all parents to any of our Junior Chapels. Our next one will be this Friday 9 September with a focus on ‘R U OK Day’.

Senior Chapel

This term our Senior School Chapels have focused on vulnerability, with Year 9 and 10 thinking about the words we say in our heads about ourselves and how this would impact on our self-worth and performance across all areas of our lives. Year 7 and 8 and Year 12 will enjoy Chapel next week.
