Division Cross Country
On Wednesday 18th May, 58 students from Wantirna College across Years 7-12 competed in the Knox Division Cross Country. It was an overcast and slightly breezy day at Kings Park in Ferntree Gully, but all students arrived, eager to do their very best and represent the College with great pride. The students competed with terrific spirit and pushed themselves with everything they had to achieve some terrific results. The support from peers as each Wantirna student crossed the line was outstanding to see.

Important Notice for Parents
At the beginning of the school year, information in regards to student participation in inter-school sport was sent out via a number of school forums, which clearly outlined the expectations set for student involvement. Unfortunately, there have been several instances where these expectations have not been met and this has resulted in a number of student’s ineligible to attend sporting activities. I would like to remind parents and students of some parts of the sporting policy set out below to avoid disappointment.
Can I please remind parents and students of the following:
- Wantirna PE uniform must be worn, including the Wantirna polo and jacket. Predominantly blue or black tracksuit pants are preferable. Sport leggings are acceptable.
- All students must provide written consent and payment at the General Office 2 days prior to the event to be eligible to play. No consent forms will be accepted on the day of the event.
- For students to be eligible for team selection, they must register via the online sign ups and attend all tryouts and information meetings, and attend all practice sessions as required by the coach. Students must inform the coach prior to the training session if they are unable to attend.
- All students are expected to meet consistent academic expectations across all subjects in addition to maintaining consistent behavioural expectations of the College to be eligible to participate in interschool sport.
- Where student academic progress and/or behavior has been inconsistent, the Year Level Leader and Sports Coordinator will make the final decision as to whether a student is able to participate in interschool sport.
- Any student who brings the good name of the College into disrepute, or breaks College rules while participating in interschool sport may have their right to participate removed for the remainder of the school year. This is at the discretion of sub school leaders, in consultation with the sport coordinator.
- Coaches do not have the authority to make exceptions to this policy. If a student’s eligibility is in doubt, the Sport Coordinator and Year Level Leader have the final say about a student’s participation.
Term 3 Sport!
Term 3 sport sign ups will be available to all students at the end of this term via their student email.
Students must sign up online to be eligible for team selection.
Sports on offer for Term 3 are: Basketball, Hockey and Table Tennis.
Students can sign up for as many sports as they want, as long as they are played on different days.
If you have any questions regarding sport, please don’t hesitate to contact the College.
