There have been many highlights for the HSIE and LOTE faculties in 2018. We must make special mention of our Year 11 Mock Trial Team who were the best performing Central Coast team in this prestigious state-wide completion. Our team included Katie Lewis, Eli Clarkson, Alexandra Sidiropoulos, Leo Coleman, Luke Mirfield and Thomas Marsh. Congratulations on a wonderful achievement and thank you to Mrs Julia Kostalas for your guidance, expertise and passion for this type of opportunity for students.

Another highlight was the Modern History and History Extension excursion to the Sydney Jewish Museum. Our group were fortunate to speak with Lena Goldstein, a survivor of the Holocaust and a sprightly 99 years of age. This was one of those moments when History comes alive for students. It allowed them to move beyond the pages of a textbook and truly understand the human experience. We wish Lena best wishes for 100th birthday in January.

Our school year once again involved excursions, fieldwork, guest speakers, engaging classroom activities, outstanding academic achievement and pleasing improvement. These things could not happen without the dedication and talents of a truly outstanding group of teachers. I would like to thank Mr David Ardley, Mr Luke Banks, Mrs Julia Kostalas, Ms Jean Laffan, Miss Cassandra McLennan, Mrs Chloe Mitchell, Mr Judd Newton and Mrs Raegan Travica for the energy and enthusiasm you bring to classroom each day.

Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas

and New Year.
