From the Principal
They say that hindsight is 2020. I have often asked myself over these past couple of months, ‘what will I wish I had done six or twelve months from now?’ This question has guided our thinking, and informed our planning of the management of the School amidst the ‘Covid era’ of education this year. Overall, I think I will want to look back and say we treated each other well, we took advantage of extra time with loved ones, we stayed connected and we didn’t eat too many doughnuts. That last one might just be a personal one. I must say the resilience of the community at PVIMS has been palpable. We have all needed to adapt, be flexible and make changes. Some of it has been easy, and some of it not. This newsletter is a recognition of our resilience and what good things have been happening while many of us have been working and learning remotely. It is wonderful to see the incredible work being done by our students under the guidance of their teachers and with the support of their parents. In some ways, we are even more connected now than we ever have been as a community.
On the topic of staying connected, next week I will host a live Principal’s Forum on Wednesday 13th May at 6pm. This forum will be an opportunity to address the community about the School’s management of the COVID19 crisis and to address questions or issues as requested by the parent community. If there are particular aspects on which you would like to have an update, please send them to Antida Trengove at atrengove@pvims.vic.edu.au by Tuesday 12th May 2020.
The forum will be held on a Jitsi platform. The link will be emailed to parents early next week. I look forward to seeing many of our PVIMS community members on that forum and hope that you will be able to join me next week.
Community Surveys
I am grateful to those parents who completed the Distance Learning survey. It was really helpful to gain valuable feedback and to adjust our planning as we progress through Term 2. Our New Brand Strategy community research survey is open until this Friday 8th May. Please do complete the survey and give us your feedback! This will help guide the School’s planning on the look and feel of our visual brand design and strategy in the future.

THANKS!
I wanted to publicly thank our staff at PVIMS for their commitment over these past few months. Our Staff Meetings have been different with many staff working remotely and I know everyone is looking forward to being back on deck as soon as is possible!
Thanks,
Janis Coffey
