Year Adviser's Reports

The New 2019 Year 12 Adviser!!

I would like to officially congratulate Year 12 on their outstanding start to the HSC year. The preliminary year has passed and we are now beginning the final conquest in our schooling life.

Crossroads Camp

Year 12 attended the annual Crossroads Camp at Mangrove Mountain in week two. The camp allowed students to meet the required outcomes of the Crossroads syllabus whilst participating in the high ropes, giant swing and archery activities. As a whole, students can be proud of the way they conducted themselves and the support they showed toward each other. It was fantastic to see many students stepping out of their comfort zones. Some highlights of the camp include:

  • Wanda Rasmussen getting not one, but two bullseyes in the archery course.
  • Alex Sidiropoulos and Senjay Turner giving a fantastic thank you speech
  • Watching the group cheer and laugh during the games night

We would like to thank Mr Mellish for his tireless organisation and Mr Wright, Mr Pratt, Mrs Karanicolaou and Miss Imer for their support on the excursion.

Year 12 Mentors

Year 12 will be selecting a mentor that will support them throughout 2019. The mentoring concept is guided by the students in negotiation with their nominated staff mentor. There are several features of the process:

  • Students must actively meet with their mentor and discuss a time they would like to have their mentoring session. This will vary among students – some may choose to meet weekly, some fortnightly, monthly and so on
  • The mentoring session is guided by the student – students often choose to talk about school, planning and time management, mental health, courses.

All students will have an opportunity to nominate their mentor this week.

Google Classroom

Mrs James and I have created a Google Classroom platform for students to access over the next year. We will place important information, documents and announcements on this site. It will also provide students with a space to collaborate and share photographs and positive memories from the past 5 years.

As we move into the second half of the term, I encourage all students to continue working hard. Remember, course work is essential to success and each task now contributes toward the HSC. If you need support or assistance, please seek help from myself or many of your wonderful teachers.
