Deputy Principal's Report

Term 4 is going positively and at a fast pace with a lot of events occurring in the weeks to come.

Year 12 HSC is Completed

Congratulations to Year 12 upon completing your final examinations. All students are to be commended on their application and conduct during the examination process. The school would also like to acknowledge Mrs Lyn Emery and her team of supervisors for their support during the examinations.

In addition, on Tuesday 19 November it was my pleasure to attend Year 12’s Formal conducted at Crowne Plaza Terrigal. The night was a wonderful event and a fitting way to say goodbye to our wonderful Year 12 cohort. Special thanks to Mrs Tricia Muscat and Miss Tegan Perkins who have both supported the Year 12’s as Year Advisers over the past six years.

HSC results are released on Tuesday 17 December. We look forward to seeing many of the Year 12’s return for a celebration breakfast on that day. Details will be provided on the Year 12 Facebook page.

Stage 6 Preparation Program

This term Year 10 will engage in the Stage 6 Preparation Program in readiness for their transition into Stage 6 next year. Students have been issued the three week  program which commenced this week. Thank you to parents and carers for your support of the program.

Year 7, 2020 Transition

The transition of Year 7 is in full swing with a number of programs currently underway, combined with Year Adviser visits to each of our partner schools. I would like to acknowledge the ongoing commitment of both our partner schools, Gosford Public School and Point Claire Public School, in fully supporting the Transition Program and resulting in a positive transition experience for all students.

I would also like to acknowledge the work of Mrs Hogan,  Ms McLennan and Year 9 mentors in their work with our STAR students.

We look forward to meeting all students at Orientation Day on Tuesday 3 December 2019.

Uniform Review

Over the past semester the students and staff have been consulted and surveyed in line with a uniform review being led by the schools SALSA student team.

The recommendations from the review are outlined below:

  • Introduce a tracksuit in black and gold, with school emblem. The track pants may be worn every day as school pants.
  • Girls sport shorts - same design as the boys however a fit tailored to girls.
  • Introduce a fleece jacket and jumper in black with the school emblem.

These sample items were presented at the P&C meeting held on Tuesday 26 November. All changes were ratified at the meeting.

As the last part of the review process, the school is seeking feedback from the parent community. Please e-mail the school at:

henrykenda-h.school@det.nsw.edu.au

with constructive comments and suggestions. This consultation period will be conducted from the Friday 29 November to  Wednesday 13 December 2019.

Implementation of any changes will move forward from mid Term 2 to  Term 3 2020.

Any queries please contact Mrs Donna James, Deputy Principal.
