Middle Years

Rising to Challenge

Welcome back to Term Four, and I hope everyone recharged over the holidays. I would like students to talk to their parents about how to finish the year off strongly.

Challenges bring out the best in us, and sometimes surprise us. Discomfort zones are needed as students develop: this fosters self-reliance, problem solving and self- efficacy. We become bold by facing the challenges life throws at us. Challenges give us the opportunity to grow mentally, emotionally and physically. We come to know who we are and what we stand for. We overcome fear and doubt with our heads held high.

I ask all our students: What are the challenges ahead this term? Are you bold in the face of challenges? What needs to be done to prepare for the challenges?

Our wish is for our students to be bold, to become bold enough to challenge themselves, be adventurous, to fulfil their potential, to take risks and be the best versions of themselves.

Here is my challenge to students; this is “your responsibility”:

  • Get motivated.
  • Get organised.
  • Be diligent.
  • Be disciplined.
  • Do your homework properly.
  • Focus.
  • Work out your goals or what you want to achieve.
  • Think how you can make these a reality.
  • Talk to your parents and mentor.
  • Seek help from your teachers.
  • Commit to your learning.

I am looking forward to an energetic and productive Term Four.
