Library

Greetings All!

It is good to be back at work! I really enjoyed the break for long service leave and appreciate the work done by Mrs Erin Parker, Mr Jarran Cook and Miss Caroline Welst in keeping things on track. The welcome from the students has also been affirming.

Furniture refurbishment:

To cap off the renovations, we are in the process of choosing and ordering some furniture for the Senior Library. It has been heart-warming that so many students and teachers have offered advice or put a case for retaining some of the things that are found to be useful. As plans unfold they will be shared, and hopefully we can start next year with a fully reinvigorated appearance which enhances teaching and learning opportunities.

Thank you:

The Junior Library has been presented with a wonderful box of new books from the parents of a student who visited the school last term. These beautiful titles will be catalogued and available by the end of the week, or early next week.

End of Year 12:

Yes, this day is nigh, then the final examinations, then out into the world! It is an interesting stage of each cohort’s year and this year there are some who I worked with way back when they were in ELC! It is important that all Library resources are returned before we sign off on each student’s departure. Text book returns are critical as they will be needed for next year, when the cycle starts for the next Year 12 intake.

International Climate Action Project 2020:

We have commenced work with Years 3, 4 and 5 and the weekly tasks will appear online as they are completed. Click here. As Australian schools are on holiday when the first weekly challenge is set, we are currently playing catch-up. There should be a film available on the website by tomorrow evening.

Yes, it’s on again! This year it has the added possibility of joining PlantEd as well, which is an action project. I am hoping that some students from the Year 9 Geography classes can contribute a report of their work, in a project which has been a long-standing initiative of The Hamilton and Alexandra College.

Watch this space!
