Music at home

With the closure of all public performance spaces, musicians around the world have found new and innovative ways to continue to collaborate to make music. From performances in digital concert halls to performing live from the kitchen window, musicians will not give up the joy of playing music and bringing people together. While the global music scene has changed over this time of the pandemic, music at Preshil thrives.

We have been thrilled by the opportunities for new strategies, methods and innovation that online learning has offered us. The classroom music program has embraced the chance to develop new ways of presenting information and performances, as well as discover innovative ways to continue to collaborate. Students in all year levels are sharing presentations and performances, while continuing to create music individually as well as in groups.

Virtual instrumental lessons have been flourishing and students, with increased time to practise, are experiencing greater progress and accomplishment. Ensembles continue to bond our students through virtual sessions and the aim to digitally create music together. The community is constantly being connected by the Preshil Music Instagram page which provides a performance platform, inspiration and just a bit of fun! Please check it out.

At Preshil, we believe music encourages learning through doing. Whether your children are inventing their own rhythms, learning to sing a new song, writing lyrics, dancing or practising instrumental music, we know they are developing confidence, experiencing pride in making choices and are feeling the joy of accomplishment.

We hope that music continues to provide our community with inspiration, a sense of connection and joy.
