Year 7

Year 7
Wow what a challenging year we are having! This has not stopped the amazing Year 7 students. They have moved from classroom learning, to remote learning and now are managing this all again. Most of the students have managed this transition well and are to be congratulated on their organised and enthusiastic approach to being a Marian learner!
Earlier in the year we learnt about growth mindsets and our Year 7 students have been able to show how flexible they are in challenging times.
In pastoral care, homeroom teachers spent time with the students going through extra tips for home learning and the assessment process. Teachers have encouraged the students to work on being clear around understanding what tasks are due.
Sometimes during these unprecedented times we can act out of character, maybe a bit tired and lacking motivation. Year level leaders, Learning Leaders, teachers, counsellors and families will support the students so that they can achieve their best. Staff have reminded students to reach out, send a direct message, email or get in contact when they feel they are not managing their school work and learning.
Staff have reminded students to be flexible but organised with their learning. Know what is due and coming up for any formative or summative tasks. Students may like to take a day to day approach with their work or perhaps to look ahead over the week and know what is coming and what is expected of them as learners. Students can have fun planning their timetable, use lists, post it notes and calendar events.
Students have been encouraged to collaborate their learning with a friend in class - have a buddy who checks in them and vice versa. Seeking feedback and suggestions from teachers about learning is a great way to improve!
As always our virtual door is always open for the students so please let us know if we can help and support your students in any way!
