Pathways and Subject Selection Processes 2021
We are now well underway with the subject selection program for Year 10, 11 and 12 students for 2021. As has become usual this year, we have had to adapt quickly and deliver all of the associated information and processes in an entirely different way.
This year our pathways and subject selection information sessions for both Year 9 into 10 and 10 into 11 2021 were delivered via Webinar on Monday evening, 27 July. These webinars were very well attended by students and their families and provided a great basis to start the process. We thank you for engaging with us at these sessions.
To supplement this, our dedicated team of Learning Leaders have produced informative clips providing an overview of all subject and elective offerings for Year 10 and 11 2021. The Year 9 students had the opportunity to view these clips on their iExplore Unplugged Day, whilst the Year 10 students have had timetabled periods for this. Each learning area has also set-up a SEQTA Forum where students can ask questions at any time and get responses from a wide range of relevant staff.
Year 10 students have completed ‘Morrisby Online’, which is a comprehensive career assessment tool. This was then followed by a one-to-one mentoring session with one of our Careers and Pathways Staff, to enable them to utilise this to inform their pathways and subject choices.
Year 9 students have completed ‘My Career Match’ and, on their iExplore Unplugged Day, participated in a range of sessions, preparing them for the subject selection process. They now have the opportunity for follow-up mentoring with their homeroom teachers. Senior mentor teachers provide mentoring for Year 11 students as they fine-tune their programs for Year 12.
Applications for VCE and VCE VET Accelerated Studies have now closed and students and parents will soon be advised of the outcome of those applications, via Care Monkey.
VCAL applications have also closed and Year 10 Applied Learning applications close on Friday 7 August. In addition to this, Marian College staff have identified some students as being best suited to the VCAL/Applied Learning Pathway. All of these students will be notified via Care Monkey and requested to schedule a meeting with the Applied Learning Coordinator, Mr Adam Spinks.
Year 8 into 9, 2021 elective selections take place later this term and details will be forthcoming.
All information related to the subject selection process is available on the Subject Selection Information Portal Page on SEQTA. We encourage you to visit this page to see all handbooks, presentations and communications.
