Wellbeing 2020

Mike Tarleton - Assistant Principal (Engagement & Wellbeing)

Make a Positive Difference!

What a fantastic start to the week! Our Father’s Day Team, who have spent many, many hours behind the scenes getting organised, purchasing, pricing and publicising, have done a magnificent job! In their first two days of sales, they had sold over $650 of presents for dads - this is an amazing feat and almost puts us into profit already.

Our Year 6 Leaders - Lucas, Elena K, Elena E, Chiara, Yana and Maya have developed their communication and leadership skills, speaking at assembly, visiting classes and making decisions about which items they believe will sell best, developing their awareness of unit costs and profits. Their ultimate aim is to make sure that all profits go towards play equipment to support our Active Lunches initiative as many of these students have been Play Leaders since the start of the year.

Lockleys North students actively seek a healthy lifestyle.

We have huge gratitude for our Play Leaders who continue to organise lunchtime activities inside our gym and on the oval, showing outstanding commitment by giving up many of their lunch breaks to create and deliver opportunities for others to have fun and keep active! This commitment to our school values of Care & Concern and Respect has seen some of these students already give between 30-60 hours of their time to ‘give back’ to our school community. Their supportive and caring nature was demonstrated perfectly by Play Leader Anna this week when her soccer team finished their tournament as Runners Up. Explaining to younger students to be gracious in victory and also in defeat is positive learning for all and the way she spoke definitely demonstrated that she wanted her team to be proud and develop their resilience. Even the greatest teams don't always win!

Message from our Captains

This week is the turn of our Pierson Captains

Natalija, Crystal, Alexi and Jed

BRIAN 6695

MALURUS 6150

GRALLINA 6000

PIERSON 5980

I have had terrific reflection meetings with many of our Team Captains this week. Team Points has been a new system this year and we discussed modifications to make sure our Captains aren't overloaded.

Grallina Captains (Gabi, Layla and Eleni) had some useful suggestions about keeping track to ensure students get their certificates in a timely fashion and we hope to implement these soon.

Many thanks for your continued support of our staff and students,

Mike
