Library Book Borrowing Service

For the remainder of this period of remote learning, the Library will be unable to provide a printed book borrowing service. Some of you may have seen or heard that we had put in place processes for being able to do so in Stage 3, but with Stage 4 those process are no longer able to be followed and with the best will in the world we are unable to provide a printed book service.

As before, there are no overdue notices and we do not want any books returned until the students come back to school.

However, Kilbreda Library subscribes to an ebook platform which students can access from their laptop or mobile phone or iPad (bigger is better!) if they have the app installed.

There are approximately 2,700 ebooks and eAudiobooks available and they can be easily accessed from Simon or go straight to this link https://kilbreda.wheelers.co/ and download the app from there.

Ms Kean has prepared a brief video for step-by-step instructions.

Edible Book Competition

Many of you took part in the Edible Book Competition and I am very happy that we were able to make something of Book Week this year, even during lock down.

We had so many wonderful entries! Thank you to everyone who entered for their tremendous efforts. The edible books were judged by a panel of five VCE students and we are delighted to announce the following students who have earned places this year. Congratulations:

  • 1st Place -  'Alice in Wonderland' created by Kiara McGaw (Year 8)
  • 2nd Place 'Shrek' created by Rebecca Goodchild (Year 8)
  • 3rd Place  - 'Paddington Bear' created by Georgia Hitchcock (Year 9)
  • Equal 4th Place - 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' created by Jorja Stalhut (Year 7)
  • 'Alice in Wonderland' -  a collaborative effort by Airlie Smith, Helena Siliga and Maya Johnston (Year 7)

An honourable mention also goes to our Year 12 students who entered the competition this year. It was so great to see them having some fun despite the difficulties that they're battling through at the moment.

Well done Llelarni Mitchell - 'Rapunzel', Josie Rees - 'Throne of Glass', Lucinda Smith - who produced her Math's notebooks and Nat Meyer who created Hogwarts with her sister, Michaela.

Here are all of the other incredible entries. We look forward to running the competition again in 2021.
