Leadership Report

We made it! Another incredible year at Magill School draws to a close. Once again, we have been faced with many challenges along the way and it seems as though COVID has brought with it a new type of normal.

Despite all of the challenges, I’m incredibly proud of the efforts of all of the Magill School teachers and SSOs for ensuring that the learning program maintained such a high standard.  When you look back, this year has been one of fun, excitement, and learning.

My admiration and thanks to all staff for their tireless work in making our school the great place that it is to work, and their dedication to giving their best to each and every student.

A great school also needs a great community and our community is wonderfully supportive and connected. The turnout for our concert was amazing and it was wonderful to be able to hold this special event without restrictions. Thank you to all parents and caregivers for being so supportive.

I would like to wish all of our Year 6 students and others who are leaving Magill School all the best for the future. I hope that you have fond memories of your time at Magill and I wish you all the best at your new schools.

A big thank you to Philippa Tierney and Rachel Knighton for their work at Magill School. I wish them both all the best in the future. Also good luck to Bella Ritani who is taking leave in 2023.

Our building works are well underway and we look forward to moving into the new space sometime in 2023. As grateful as we are for the investment in our school, we were disappointed that certain aspects of the original design had to be removed from the project due to cost blowouts. Our Governing Council, led by Jenn Roberts have consistently lobbied the previous and current state governments for additional funding. I’m pleased to say, that after almost 2 years of pressure by Jenn, we have been informed that the school will receive an additional $575,000 to build a playground as part of the Junior Primary redevelopment. This is a fantastic outcome for our school and will ensure that our children will have a wonderful play space to complement the new indoor learning spaces.

Thank you to Jenn and the Governing Council for such a great result.

At the end of each term, students, staff and parents eagerly await the release of our latest Inside Magill episode. This one will not disappoint and has captured a super busy Term 4, hence the slightly longer running time than usual. Check it out….

Finally, I wish our community a safe and happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year. May your holidays be spent doing things that make you happy.

I look forward to seeing you all again on Monday 30th January, the first day of school for 2023.
