Community Events Team

As we wrap up a thankfully busy year of school events, we would like to acknowledge the efforts of our CET team and the many community members who have helped out at school events this year.

In particular, we would like to thank Tanya Pittard and Tamsin Downes, who are both leaving CET after many years of being enthusiastic members who know where things are and who to call!

Alongside her current roles as School Council President, and Education Committee Chair, Tanya has been Chair of the CET in previous years and has been the driving force behind the Winter Magic Market and its success. WMM is not just the biggest fundraiser for BNW, it also promotes the school and is a reflection of the uniqueness of BNW.

Tamsin has been a crucial and committed member of CET for many years. She knows how to stock and run a good bar, get the Trivia Night dance floor full and turns up to every event with enthusiasm and a ‘let’s get this done’ attitude. We are so thankful also to Jason Downes who has also been such a great support to CET, and especially to Trivia Nights.

We are incredibly grateful to Anne Treasure, Linda Reiling, Tamsin, and Tanya who always showed up, supported, encouraged, and motivated us.

CET in 2023

What is CET?

The Community Events Team (CET) is a parent-led sub-committee of the School Council. Its purpose is to provide opportunities for the BNW community to create and strengthen connections, support the school programs, and raise funds.

The committee is led by Co-Chairs, who are members of the School Council. Co-Chairs oversee CET activities and communicate with the School, School Council and the school community. CET committee members support Co-Chairs by attending regular meetings, and taking responsibility for tasks related to specific events (ordering, bookings, coordinating event teams).

What can I do?

There are opportunities to be a part of school events either as a member of the CET committee or for an individual event. Please think about joining the 2023 CET team! You truly gain so much in return and we know that our children benefit when we are engaged with their school. There is currently a vacancy as Co-Chair with Anne Treasure and for committee members. Please be in touch with CET at cet@brunswicknwps.edu.au

As this infographic shows, running school events is a collaborative effort with everyone contributing a piece to the puzzle.

Bake Sale

Emma, a couple of other friends and I decided to raise money for more graphic novels in the library. We put our talents together and organized a bake stall! A week later we received some news. The school had enough money to buy the requested comics. We still wanted to do the bake stall, so we decided to donate the money to children in Ukraine.Fast forward to the day of the bake stall. I was super nervous that everything would go wrong. But when I saw all of the wonderful treats and goodies my  friends had made I felt confident. The stall was such a success and we raised $271.20.

It went so well I hope the money would be put to good use for the children in Ukraine!

Below is a pic of the hard workers and their 1st keen customer.
