Foundation Unit

Hello everyone and welcome to the 2023 school year!

We’re off to a flying start in Foundation, with students beginning to learn about all the routines involved in the school day. There has been a lot of information, but the students have coped well so far and have enjoyed things like receiving their very own book boxes and finding their bag hooks where they place their school bag at the start of the day!

Some things have been challenging like going to the toilets in a new environment, finding the way back to the classroom when the play equipment is so far away and learning to open and close lunch boxes without the help of Mum or Dad. The Foundation teachers have made sure they are close by at all times to lend a helping hand.

Other things have been lots of fun like going to PE, Art, French and Music lessons and making new friends. Students have enjoyed playing with all the developmental play activities in the classroom and have especially loved exploring the school playgrounds. They have also enjoyed completing different maths activities during our maths rotations this week.

Photos include some examples of our maths rotations which feature counting

and pattern making skills.

We can’t wait to continue on this exciting school journey with you all and look forward to a fantastic Term 1 together!
