Carlsruhe Annexe /

Main Campus - Year 4

Welcome to the Carlsruhe year! It has been wonderful to see the enthusiastic, excited and happy faces back at school this week. Students have settled extremely well into their new environments and are working hard to grasp the new routines and expectations. I think all students will have arrived home exhausted yet happy after their specialist day yesterday, which saw them participate in Music, P.E., French, Art and social and emotional learning, as well as the chance to use the canteen and catch up with their friends in the other Carlsruhe classes and other year levels. It was great for CU2 to hear from friends about the first few days at Carlsruhe and they are looking forward to receiving regular updates about the animals!

Students out at Carlsruhe have relished the opportunity to meet and cuddle the animals and the guinea pigs, sheep and chickens are all feeling the love at the moment. Carlsurhe ‘jobs’ have begun in full swing and students are learning the responsibilities associated with caring for animals and maintaining gardens including feeding and cleaning out the chickens, feeding guinea pigs, cleaning out the guinea pig cages, feeding the worms and tending to the worm farms and compost and completing essential daily jobs around the campus as part of the ‘maintenance crew’. See the attached photos to see CU1 and CU3 in action completing these jobs!

Hats

Could you please ensure your child has a school hat. We have a number of students without hats at the moment and it really restricts what they can participate in outside, when they have to stay in the shade due to not having a hat!

Animal Roster

Part of the Carlsurhe experience is that each family is rostered on to help care for the animals each weekend and during school holidays. We sent an email to all CU1 and CU3 families earlier in the week asking them to please let us know of any dates you are unavailable to be rostered on animal duties - either taking guinea pigs home to be cared for or coming to Carlsruhe to feed the chickens - for the dates between 31.1.23 and 15.5.23. Thank you to those families who have already emailed me. If you haven’t already done so, could you please email Zoe Hall by Friday with your unavailable dates so we can make up the roster, which will be emailed out to you early next week.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
