Music Report

Welcome to the 2023 Instrumental Music Program

Glenroy College runs a practical, engaging and fun music program which enables our talented students to develop performance skills and pursue their love for music.

Learning an instrument and playing music with others brings a wide range of benefits for students: self-expression through performance, connecting and socialising with other music students, confidence building, cultural expression and identity, as well as enhanced independent learning.

Lessons are offered during students’ regular classes during the day and run for 30 minutes. A rotating timetable ensures students do not miss the same class every week. Lessons are conducted individually or in small groups with a specialist teacher. Participation in the program is completely free for our students, which is an amazing opportunity!

This year we welcome four fantastic new teachers to our Instrumental Music team:

Jaydon Chai teaches piano on Mondays and Fridays (Jaydon can also teach Flute and Clarinet)

Kelby Hughes  teaches guitar and bass on Tuesdays.

Lawrence Grifa teaches drums on Wednesdays.

Matt Bullock teaches singing on Thursdays.

We hope to expand the music program to include woodwind and brass lessons soon.  Students who participate in instrumental lessons will have opportunities to perform throughout the year in assemblies, school concerts and community events.

Enrolments are still open for Singing, Drum-kit, Piano, Guitar and Bass. Contact Music Coordinator Yulia McGibbon via XUNO if you are interested or have any questions about the Instrumental Music Program.
