Swimming Carnival

What a great day it was on Thursday the 14th February at the Noble Park Aquatic Centre. There were flashes of house colours everywhere, our Year 12's getting into their role in house dress up, and our students giving it a go and jumping in the pool for their house. The 25m events where once again a hit and well participated in on the day which saw so many students get into the pool, which was great to see. We have so many talented students and it was great to see so many new faces participating for their house and earning house points. Congratulations to Head of House, Ms Barbara Murphy and McCormack house for making it three championships in a row at the Swimming Carnival, an amazing achievement.

I am extremely proud of the McCormack competitor that swam on the day with others winning and having fun while doing so. The McCormack spirit on this day was truly outstanding. It was exciting to see a white swimming cap in almost every event, especially our juniors and our intermediate swimmers. It was also exhilarating to see most of the year 12s dressed up together in their house colours, having fun, doing novelty races and really just enjoy their last swimming carnival. And l would really like to thank Georgia for all the participation she did and becoming this year’s swimming MVP.
Go Tigers!

The swimming carnival on Valentine's Day 2019 was certainly a memorable one for me, as well as for all the students and teachers involved with McCormack House.
The day was set out to be a battle of the wits and commitment between all of the six houses, however, McCormack started the day off by flying right out of the gates, with many of the year sevens showing their excitement for the day by extensively participating within many of the events. Throughout the entire day, many of the McCormack students were getting constantly involved within the events, including cheering on for other McCormack house members that were participating in their events, as well as comforting and motivating other members to compete in more events. This made sure that the experience on the day was great for all McCormack house members. The Year 12 events were also a blast. Being able to share this wonderful and unforgettable experience with my amazing cohort is something that I will never forget, especially the two-legged race, and the tug of war, and being able to hang out with many of my friends on the day was something I truly cherished.
Organising the day alongside Shamiso and Mrs. Murphy was very strenuous and tiring, but ultimately, the support and participation from the rest of the House was the main benefactor that helped to lift the spirits. When the results of the carnival were announced at the end of the day, I was ecstatic about the result and hard work that McCormack Tigers as a house put towards the event. This was the proof that even those McCormack participants that did not win their specific event all contributed to our House winning the Swimming Carnival.
I thank each McCormack House member for a terrific work at the Swimming Carnival. Regardless of winning, I was extremely proud of the effort and commitment that all Tigers displayed on the day, and I look forward towards other key dates on the school calendar that can help to display the terrific spirit of our McCormack House.

Chisholm House
The swimming carnival was an amazing day filled with incredible amounts of house spirit and lots of participation. Our success was only possible due to the participation of all the members of Chisholm house in the events and in supporting the house. As the house leaders for Chisholm, we would like to thank and congratulate all of the Chisholm swimmers who participated on the day. It was because of you that we came so close (2nd) to getting the house swimming cup!

MacKillop House
The 2019 Nazareth House Swimming Carnival was held on Tuesday the 14th of February at the Noble Park Aquatic Centre. It was a very exciting day, with students competing in various different pool events, such as the 50-metre freestyle, and also novelty events outside of the pool, such as tug-of-war. As a House, MacKillop had great House spirit, which involved lots of cheering and encouragement towards our fellow peers. With some amazing individual performances from our MacKillop students, we were lucky enough to be awarded 3rd place overall. The day, as a whole, was one to remember, especially for the Year 12s. With all of the Year 12s dressing up in their House-coloured costumes and their final laps of the pool, it will be remembered forever.

McAuley House
One of the best ways to start 2019 was the Swimming Carnival, which was held on 14 February and was a great opportunity to win house points and to participate in swimming and novelty events to win the House Swimming Cup. As one of the leaders in McAuley house, it is a privilege to be part of such a skilled group of individuals. Each student in McAuley had shown house spirit representing the house by wearing McAuley colours and participating in swimming events, the relay and novelty events. McAuley students came in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in several events. The McAuley’s Year 7 students demonstrated enthusiasm and showed true House Spirit in the way they worked as a team to tackle the relay. They were awarded a first place!
I feel proud to be part of McAuley house, as this will be my last year at Nazareth. The swimming carnival was a great way to bring all students together and to show their competitive side as well as having fun in the Year 12 swim. Even though McAuley house placed 4th, there will always be a next time.

The House Swimming Carnival was a big success, there were many students whom participated and cheered on their houses in the day. I am proud to be a leader of McAuley and encourage other students to participate as well as actually participate myself in multiple swims, including the relays. As this is my last year, I felt that the swimming carnival was a great accomplishment and that everyone had a fun and memorable experience.

Knox House
It’s Thursday in mid February, students of Nazareth College are eagerly awaiting for the day to begin. Year 12 Students are proud to show off their inventive costumes, some proud to be wearing their mother’s robes whereas others are quite content to show off their glittery cheeks and moustaches. The day began with freestyle swimming races but developed to multilevel relays and competitive games of tug of war. Even the fresh Year 7 students were willing to participate, along with the higher year levels. It was very nice to see some healthy competition between houses, lots of cheering from Knox students from all year levels supporting their house and of course, the noodle races atop with purple caps. To finish the day the Year 12’s made their final swim and the house cup was awarded to….. unfortunately not Knox! Maybe next year, but there was an abundance of smiles regardless.

Mannix House
As this is my last year at Nazareth College and last swimming carnival
ever, we as year 12’s had to make it count. The day was jammed packed
with activities that kept us busy. We had a Year Level and House vs
House tug of war game too! Mannix won every time I must add! We also
had a three-legged race which was so much fun but also very
dangerous, all I say is make sure your partner and you are in-sync or you
will be eating grass. Unfortunately, Mannix finished last this swimming
carnival but there will be always next year. It was great to see Mannix
have the spirit there and the House also backing the competitors which I
believe is better than winning the cup.
