Wellbeing Report

It has been a busy but rewarding start of the year for our students and teachers. To foster House spirit, last week the Year 7s participated in the first annual Year 7 mini Olympic Games. They ran relays, threw quoits and vortices as well as created fantastic artworks. The winning House was McAuley. A fantastic achievement and one close to my heart as a “McAuleyan” myself. Thanks must go to Emilia Roberts for organising the games and to the teachers who supervised. Those teachers were most ably assisted by a group of Year 8 students, who showed fantastic leadership to support and encourage all the Year 7 participants.

The Olympic Games was one of the ways we have tried to help with the transition of our Year 7s. It can be a most stressful time for students who have come from many different schools. We are trying to ensure they are making positive connections at a new “big” school.

If you find that your child is struggling in this transition, please feel free to contact anyone in the Wellbeing team, the Pastoral teacher or the Head of House. We want to support the newest members of the Nazareth community as best we can.
