Faith and Wellbeing Assistant Principal's Report

Opening Mass

Last Thursday we celebrated the Opening of the School Year Mass. It was a blessing to come together as a school community and offer our year to God.  We are most grateful to Fr Kevin Dillon and Deacon George Piech Meat for so generously coming to lead us. The Mass included the Commissioning of our 50 strong St Vincent de Paul College Conference students, in addition to the staff  and students making their Pledge of Commitment for the year.   In his homily Deacon George reminded us that we  hold our life in our hands and we can choose what we do with it in 2019.  As we invite God into this year, we ask Him to guide us all.

It was very pleasing to hear Fr Dillon complement our students on being the most reverent and respectful school students he has worked with in his years of Ministry. This is a credit to the wonderful students we have in our community.

Student Wellbeing

As we move towards the middle part of our Term a reminder to please let your child’s Pastoral Teacher know if there are anything they are finding difficult at school or any challenges they are facing outside of school that may be impacting at school. It is our desire to work with and support all our students and often a little conversation from a phone call or an email with some information can have a big positive impact for students. Please feel most welcome to call or email your child’s Pastoral Teachers, Head of House or Subject Teachers if there is something you would like to discuss with us.

Morning Yard Supervision

Many of our students arrive at school early.  A reminder that our Staff commence Yard Duty at 8.15am. There is no supervision before this time, however the College Resource Centre is open at 8.00am for students who may arrive at school early.

Ash Wednesday

The season of Lent is fast approaching. We will celebrate Ash Wednesday on 6 March 2019 with a Prayer Service in the Wheeler Auditorium at the start of the day. Parents and family members are most welcome to join us.  The Prayer Service will be led by the Year 11 and 12 Youth Ministry Class.

Thursday Morning Masses

After our Swimming Sports Carnival two weeks ago and Whole School Mass last week, we will resume our Thursday Morning Masses at 8.10am this week for the rest of the Term.  This is a wonderful way to start the day and all students are encouraged to attend and parents and families most welcome.

Uniform

We are pleased to see that our students in the vast majority of cases have been wearing our College Uniform very well this year.  We thank parents for your support with this.  We will continue to be working hard on improving this throughout the year.
