The 2018 Visual Arts Exhibition was officially opened on Tuesday 16 October by Western Australian artist and College Alumni, Jacob “Shakey” Butler. In his speech, Jacob encouraged our young artists to be true to themselves, find their passion and follow their dreams, and emphasised the power they have to change the world and make it a more beautiful place through their art.

Family Zone & Cyber Safety Information Night

Digital technology has opened up a world of possibilities for our children. At the same time, it has multiplied potential risks.

The College has partnered with Australia’s leading provider of cyber safety and digital-awareness services, Family Zone. Our goal is to protect every student from exposure to online threats - from inappropriate content to cyberbullying.

We invite you to attend our Cyber Safety Information Evening with Cyber Experts from ySafe

  • Tuesday 23 October at 7:00pm
  • Gonzaga Barry Lecture Theatre

  • John XXIII College, John XXIII Avenue, Mt Claremont, WA 6010

We have also managed to secure a number of Family Zone Accounts which we are offering to John XXIII College families for free, as part of our College contract negotiations until 2020.

By setting up a private Family Zone account, you can apply age-appropriate parental controls on every device your child has access to, in any location. To find out more visit https://www.familyzone.com/johnxxiii-wa

Practice for upcoming Year 12 Italian ATAR practical exams

On Sunday 14 June, 127 dedicated students of Italian (together with their equally dedicated teachers), spent an afternoon at Perth Modern in oral practice sessions.

A huge thank you to the WAATI (Western Australian Association for Teachers of Italian) committee for organising this fabulous opportunity for our students. I know they benefited from being given first hand examination tips, working with other teachers and also learning from their peers.

In bocca al lupo (all the best) to our John XXIII Year 12 Italian ATAR students, who sit their practical (oral) examinations this coming weekend.

Tournament of Minds

Well done to the John XXIII College STEM team who travelled to Darwin last weekend to compete in the 2018 Australasian Pacific Final. Despite a valiant team effort the eventual winners of the STEM category was Good Shepherd Lutheran College from Queensland.

A big thank you to Mr Damien Connellan and Ms Carla Tripi who accompanied the team to Darwin and also to the parents of the students for their support during the competition.

Let us look forward to Tournament of Minds 2019.

Media Night

The John XXIII Media Night was held on Monday night and was a huge success. A record number of guests came to watch the work made by Media students on the big screen in the GBLT. Overwhelmingly, the feedback from those who attended was that the films, trailers and music videos were highly entertaining and our students display immense creative talent and skill. Well done to all students whose work was exhibited. The audience voted for their favourite pieces from each year group in the People’s Choice Award. The winners will be presented at the next year assembly.
