Messages

Dear Families,

It has been great to see the students returning safely from the holidays and so eager to learn.  We hope you all enjoyed some family time together.

Term Three promises to be another busy term filled with many opportunities for our students to investigate, explore and learn.  We encourage all families to continue to check the school calendar and the 'Dates' published in the Bulletin and Newsletter so that you are all aware of the many different events that are happening throughout the term and changes that may occur.

We welcome back Carlo Martello who was on leave at the end of Term Two. He has returned to us with a renewed energy and many stories to tell us about his experiences away.

We welcome two new staff members to the Galilee community this term.  Anna Reilly who is replacing Miss Hart in 6H and 2R on a Thursday, throughout Term Three, and Clementine Isaacson, our new violin teacher. We know that Anna and Clementine will enhance our already wonderful community at Galilee.

Please ensure that your child/ren are coming to school in the correct Winter Uniform each day or with a note of explanation to the classroom teacher as to why they are not. A reminder that plain, white socks only should be worn with the Sports Uniform, and that the Microfiber Sports Jacket is to be worn over the school jumper for extra warmth, with the Winter Uniform. Please read the attached Uniform Policy below for further clarification.

Change to P.E lessons

Year 3C and Year 4G will need to wear their Sport Uniform tomorrow July 21.

Punctuality

Children who arrive after 8.50am (class lines have left the basketball court), must be signed in at the office on the iPad and take a Late Pass to the teacher. Anyone arriving to class without a late pass after this time, will be sent back to the office to sign in. After 8.50am, parents should not be entering the classroom unless helping on that morning.

Masses

On Tuesday 18 July, we celebrated the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel with a whole school Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Middle Park. Thank you to the Year 5 students and teachers (Miss Otte and Mrs Ford) for preparing and hosting this mass, and to Anita and Phoebe (6H) for their musical contributions.  The students conducted themselves reverently as commented on by the Parish Priests.  Well done to everyone!

Above is a printable form for businesses to donate products or services for our trivia night in August. If you are part of or know a business who would be willing to donate, please print and complete the form.

Year 4 Morning Tea

The Year 4 Class Reps will be hosting Morning Tea on Monday 24th July in the staff room from 8:50am.

Woolworths Earn and Learn

Galilee will take part in 2017’s Earn and Learn program through Woolworths. The program provides much needed resources for schools and early learning centres across Australia. The program has been set up by Woolworths as a way of delivering back to the community. Over the years Woolworths has provided millions of educational resources to Australian schools and early learning centres.

All you need to do is collect the stickers after shopping at any Woolworths. Once you have completed the sticker page, return to our collection box in the office.

The Earn and Learn Program will run from Wednesday 26th July until Tuesday 19th September 2017. Remember, anyone can collect the stickers in our school community - staff, parents, grandparents, neighbours and friends! Let’s reach out to our school community and earn as many points as we can to earn resources from Modern Teaching Aids.

Practice Evacuation This Week

On Thursday, students and staff participated in a practice Evacuation. The scenario was that a fire had started in the Art Room and all students, staff and visitors were required to evacuate to the Hall. This practice was supervised by Dynamiq, who support us in our Evacuation Protocols. All staff also attended Warden Training on Wednesday to update their skills in the event of an emergency. Thank you to everyone who participated.
