SUCCESS STORIES

MCKINNON SECONDARY COLLEGE STUDENTS IN LES MISÉRABLES!

We are very proud to announce that Ben Gonsalvez (Class of 2017) and Phoebe Lock (Year 10) will be performing in the Young Australian Broadway Chorus (YABC) production of Les Misérables at the National Theatre in St Kilda, January 18-26, 2019.

Les Misérables, winner of over 100 international awards and seen by over 65 million people worldwide, Les Misérables is an epic and uplifting story about the survival of the human spirit. This true modern classic is based on Victor Hugo's novel and features one of the most memorable scores of all time. To be a part of such a large-scale production at their age is a major achievement for these McKinnon Secondary College students, who have been selected out of the many young actors who auditioned.

The story of Les Misérables, set in nineteenth century France, tells of Jean Valjean, a man released from 19 years of unjust imprisonment, to find nothing in store for him but mistrust and mistreatment. Breaking his parole in hopes of starting a new life, Valjean initiates a lifelong struggle for redemption as he is relentlessly pursued by police inspector Javert, who refuses to believe that Valjean can change his ways.

Following on from 2017's sell-out season of Wicked, The Untold Story of the Witches of Oz and many other successful shows in the Musicals for Young People series, Les Misérables will be the Young Australian Broadway Chorus’ most ambitious project to date, with a full orchestra, spectacular sets and costumes, and an extraordinary young cast.

It is going to be an amazing production and fabulous entertainment for the whole family. Congratulations again to Ben and Phoebe for their achievements.
