Around The Primary

Dear Parents

This morning we were delighted by the presence of so many fathers and special father figures at our Mass dedicated to Dads. Many thanks to all our wonderful Dads for coming along to this celebration and for spending time at school with your delightful children. I am sure you will all be greatly spoilt on Sunday by the love and affection of your children.

Preparations are now being finalised for our Year 4 Musical, ‘Once Upon a Crime … Fairytales – The Real Story!

The Musical is a magical combination of singing, dancing, narration and wonderful projection of individual characters. The costumes and set design look amazing and allow the young performers to really shine on the big stage.

I particularly commend the expertise and enthusiasm of Mrs Cattapan who has been working throughout the year with the Year 4 students. She has developed the students’ confidence in themselves to the extent they now fill the stage with their presence. All Primary students will attend a Matinee performance next week.

I hope all fathers and grandfathers in the College Community enjoy a very special family day on Sunday.

Kind regards

Find Your Treasure

We had so much fun in the Library last week as we ‘found our treasure’ in books. The Book Fair was a huge success and it was wonderful to see so many families in the Library enjoying books. The students were so excited to see our Library transformed into a pirate ship and we even got a surprise visit from Clifford the big red dog!

Congratulations to all the students who entered the ‘Find Your Treasure’ poster competition, our winners and all the other entries can be seen on display in the Library. Some of our Year 6 Leaders dressed up as different book characters every lunchtime and performed little skits and songs in the Library for the rest of the Primary school. On Friday we had lots of Year 6 students reading books to the younger children at lunchtime. It was wonderful to see everyone so engaged in reading together. Our Pirate dress up day on Friday was a fantastic way to end an exciting week.

This week we welcomed author and illustrator, James Foley, to our school. The K – 6 students have thoroughly enjoyed his entertaining presentation about his books.

Future Scientists

On Monday the Year 2 Scientists went on an excursion to Scitech. They had lots of fun exploring the exhibitions, going to The Planetarium and watching a live science theatre show called ‘Power Trip’.  The students learnt about why the seasons occur, constellations in the night sky and different forms of energy. The students had a great time!

GATE is Great!

As members of Year 6 GATE, we would like to thank everyone for being such great consumers in our Giving Back Fundraising Project we conducted recently. Altogether, we raised a whopping $378 for Shopfront. Shopfront is an organisation which provides essential necessities to those in need. Again, we would like to thank all of you who either made a pet rock, bought a raffle ticket or participated in the Doodle Bug challenge. We thought this fundraiser was a big success. It exceeded our expectations!

Thank you

A special thank you to the many parents who travelled down to Bunbury to offer their support to our students and to Mrs Taylor and Miss O’Donnell for all their hard work on the day by assisting the competitors and acting as officials around the track.
