Stage 2 Teachers
Term 3 Science
In Term 3 Stage 2 students will be learning about the relationship between the Sun, Earth and Moon. We are looking forward to the Week 5 excursion to The Sydney Observatory. Permission notes and money are due on Thursday of Week 4.
What's happening in 4W?
4W have been learning about the Earth's orbit around the Sun and how this creates night and day. We have learnt that the Sun's light reflects off the surface of the moon and this is what allows us to see a bright moon at night! Did you know that the Sun can reach temperatures of 15 degrees Celsius?
"You could fit one million Earths inside the Sun!" - Stasia L.
"The moon takes 24 hours to fully go around the Moon This is called orbiting." - Gemma B.
"The Earth takes 365 days to go around the Sun." - Xanthe P.
"The Sun's light reflects off the moon, so it shines on the Earth. The Sun isn't the biggest star! There are other stars in our galaxy that are bigger, they are just further away!" - Delila-May P.
4W have made models that demonstrate the relationship between the Earth, Sun and Moon. We are looking forward to discovering even more about Earth and Space!
