Appropriate Use of Social Media
Social media usage at John Wollaston Anglican Community School is governed and guided by our core values, mission, vision and ethos. We acknowledge that social media has become integral to society as a way of sharing information and communicating with others. John Wollaston has a Social Media Policy located on our school website for your information.
The Social Media Policy outlines the expectations regarding the responsible use of social media for all members of the school community. We have a shared responsibility to work together and promote the positive use of technology and monitor the acceptable use of social platforms. Social media users must be aware, that the manner in which they conduct themselves outside of the School, has the potential to be linked back to the School. Please note that according to the 'Terms of Use’ of the policy, all members of the school community, among other actions, ‘must not post images of staff or students on social media platforms, without prior permission’ and ‘must not upload links to external web pages, websites or other links that are not approved by the School’. It is important the we recognise that not all parents/guardians have granted permission for images of their children to be shared outside of the School.
If parents/guardians volunteer at our school, attending a camp/excursion, or any other school activity, permission must be obtained from the School before uploading images to any social media platform. While we understand the desire to share the wonderful activities that take place at the School, we are obligated to protect the privacy of our community members. John Wollaston Anglican Community School has a philosophy of care that centres on the school community working together. We aim to create a ‘Bright Future’ for our students characterised by lifelong learning, resilience, displaying empathy for others and making a positive contribution to our world. We appreciate your assistance in fostering a bright future for all.
Identity Day Assembly
A big thank you to the Class Representatives and Fiona Currey, Deputy Head of Primary Teaching and Learning, for a warm and enjoyable Identity Day Assembly on Friday 22 March. We take great pride in our inclusive school culture and it is a pleasure to celebrate the sense of belonging, international mindedness, and respect we have for each child’s unique identity. Our Class Representatives were creative and confident in sharing the interesting identities and hi-jinks of our staff as children themselves.
Edu-Dance Concerts
We are looking forward to our Edu-Dance Concerts in the last two weeks of the term, with students thoroughly enjoying the Hip Hop dance program. A SEQTA message has been sent with times and dates for the Concerts. Please check your Direqt messages on SEQTA to confirm the correct day for your child or children. Grandparents are always welcome at these events.
Term 1 Two/Three Way Conferences
Two/Three-Way Conferences will be held in Weeks 9 and 10 of Term 1. Please allow 15 to 20 minutes for each child's conference. The purpose of the conference is for parents/guardians to discuss the results of recent academic testing with class teachers. These tests include the On Entry Assessment for Pre-Primary to Year 2 students; and for Years 3 to 6 students, the Progressive Achievement Tests (PAT) and the Australian Council of Educational Research (ACER) General Ability Test.
During the conferences:
