Principal's Report
Welcome to the final newsletter for Term 3. Parent teacher day/night was held last Thursday and many parents attended to discuss student progress with their teachers. Our Year 12 students will finish their formal classes early next term as they work towards the completion of secondary education.
Year 12 Trial Exams
Our Year 12 students will be taking part in trial exams over the holidays. It is compulsory for all Year 12 students who are sitting exams to take part. These exams are run using the same processes as the final exams so it is a chance for students to experience this and be able to see what they have to catch up on.
Debutante Ball
Last Friday evening, 14th September, our annual Debutante Ball was held. It truly was a gala event and our young couples were splendid in their attire. Thanks to everyone involved especially Ms Vossos, the organiser, and Ms Mortellaro, our dance instructor.
School Review
As mentioned in previous newsletters, we are in the process of our four-year review. On Tuesday of last week a team of people visited the school and met with members of the Leadership Team, teachers and students. They also took part in classroom observations. Tonight, before our College Council meeting, our lead reviewer will meet with the parent members of the Council.
An important part of the review is to set up the terms of reference. They are:
- To what extent has the school been able to develop and implement a common approach to teaching and learning?
- To what extent does the school challenge and stimulate students and encourage student agency in learning?
- To what extent is there a collaborative and accountable team culture, underpinned by the effective use of data and evidence to drive differentiated planning and teaching?
The team is in the school for two days this week and they will continue this work interviewing more teachers and students and again take part in classroom observations. We will hold a final panel day early next term and then we will begin the development of our new Strategic Plan for the next four years.
Upcoming Holidays
With the upcoming holidays I certainly hope our students have a happy and safe break and they all return refreshed for Term 4.
