Staff Professional Development

Building Numeracy Leadership
Last week Mrs Hogg, Miss Kelly, Miss Calloway and Mrs Canning travelled to Dubbo to visit schools and participate in the Building Numeracy Leadership Program.
While out of the school we learnt invaluable concepts about teaching numearcy to students and how to prepare them to be numerate citizens of the future. Some of the professional learning that will be implemented into the classrooms include: Number talks and the implementation of rich mathematical tasks.
All of the teachers came away inspired and excited to get back to school and put these practices into place.
Berry Street Trauma Informed Practice
On Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th August all of the staff participated in a combined Staff Development Day with Morgan Street Public School.
During these two days we learnt about the importance of brain breaks, how to support students to be ready to learn, how our life experiences impact on our readiness to learn etc.
All of the teachers came back to school inspired and have already implemented a number of strategies into their classrooms.
At our staff meeting this week we will discuss the impact of this professional learning and develop a whole school plan to support all of the students.
