Message from the Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It was wonderful to welcome our students back to school last Tuesday.  All looked rested and happy and my congratulations to them for settling back into school routine and enjoying a wonderful start to Term 2.

St Joseph the Worker

On Friday,  students, staff and members of our community gathered at mass to remember St Joseph the Worker.  St Joseph the Worker is the patron of the universal church, who was given the noble task of caring and watching over Mary and Jesus.  Joseph set aside his own ideas to look after them, take responsibility for them and make them part of his life.  Joseph worked hard to care and support his family whilst courageously accepted this important task. Pope Frances said that “Only the Lord can give us the strength needed to accept life with all its contradictions, frustrations and disappointments.

In remembering St Joseph the Worker today, we pray:

St Joseph, man of dreams and trusting steward, pray for us.

St Joseph, faithful parent and diligent worker, pray for us.

St Joseph the Worker, wise protector and humble servant, pray for us.

COVID

At the end of last term, we received another delivery of air purifiers.  During the holidays these were moved to classrooms and are now in operation every day.  These purifiers are an important health and safety measure to reduce the spread of covid within our school.

Thank you to the families who have provided updates of covid cases within families.  We greatly appreciate working together with our community currently as we continue to manage the challenges of covid.

Maintenance

There has been some work completed at our school during the holidays. Maintenance of our playground has been completed to ensure it is safe and compliant to regulations and our arborist has completed his annual visit to access the safety of our tress. Pruning of required trees will take place on a weekend during the term.

Working together

Special thanks to the Polimeni and Evans families for looking after our hens during the holidays.

A friendly reminder to all parents that our drive though in the morning is a ‘stop and drop’ zone. If you need to get out of the car to assist your child, please park in the parking areas. Parents often complain about the lack of consideration by a small number that affects many others. Please follow this request in the spirit of working together.

Winter Uniform

As it has been unseasonably warm during the past week, some students have been attending school in summer uniform.  Moving forward all students need to be in Winter uniform at the beginning of Week 3, Monday 9th May

Just a reminder that students are expected to wear black school shoes (except on Sport days).  This does not mean that black sneakers can be worn instead of school shoes.  If you are unsure about uniform expectations, l encourage parents to check our policy on our school website so everyone is clear about the correct uniform their child/ren should be wearing.

School Fees

Thank you to all the parents who have paid their school fees in full.  It is important that all fees and levies are paid on time to enable the school to meet our financial commitments. Please contact Anna if you have any questions regarding your fees.

Thank you

Thank you to our P&F group for organising the family film night at the end of last term. Many families attended and enjoyed this event. Congratulations on raising a total of $744.00.

Mother’s Day

We are looking forward to welcoming our mothers to mass and morning tea this Friday, 6th May. Mass begins at 9.10am followed by morning tea in our school hall. At 10.20am, students will be presenting at assembly to thank our wonderful Mums.

We ask St Joseph the Worker to continue to bless our wonderful Parish and School Community.

Regards

 Maria Barnes
