Ducks get the bucks!

There’s a new wave of Mighty Ducks working their way through the Badminton ranks.

The Mighty Ducks started some seven years ago, after not one player showed up to the first ever training session.  Since then the Ducks have gone onto appear at ten State Finals.  Sadly the last two years after excellent Regional results with thirteen teams qualifying, both years were cancelled due to COVID.

Rest assured the Ducks and back and have just received the most sensational news ever, “The Ducks have got the bucks”.  Through a grant sponsorship from School Sports Victoria, the Ducks have received $1,000 worth of badminton equipment.  The PHASE Department at ESC received some $2,500 through this grant and due to the constant amount of interest and participation in badminton, decided part of these monies would be best allocated here.  These funds are an encouragement initiative to promote students into being more active since the dark days of COVID.

It was like five Christmas’s all in one day, so much so there were several tears in my eyes. 

We received twenty fantastic new racquets to hand out to students who don’t have one, 100 shuttles and three brand new nets.  For the past seven year’s we’d always be looking in Op Shops, cash converters and garage sales for $2 racquets.

All the new breed of mighty ducks are doing cartwheels of excitement with this new equipment.  

The only issue we have now is every training session is packed to the rafters and now we have too many ducks!
