ACTING PRINCIPAL TERM 2

I am fortunate in that I will experience Long Service Leave in Term 2. Therefore, I bring to your attention the following announcement from Mr Alan Bowyer, Director of Schools of the Diocese of Wagga Wagga:

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Simon Huntly as Acting Principal of Mater Dei Catholic College, Wagga Wagga for Term 2, 2014. Simon commenced with the Diocese of Wagga Wagga in 2004 at Kildare Catholic College as a Pastoral Coordinator and PDHPE teacher. Since 2009 Simon has been the Assistant Principal of Kildare Catholic College. Prior to joining the Diocese, Simon taught at St Gregory’s College at Campbelltown.

On behalf of the Diocesan and school community I extend congratulations to Simon and his family.

Mr Huntly’s appointment reminds us that Mater Dei is a part of a wider system, the Catholic Schools of the Wagga Wagga Diocese and that the 5 secondary Colleges and 27 primary schools of the Diocese operate as a team with shared purpose and mission. By having Simon serve in the role of Principal at Mater Dei he will engage in highly effective professional learning which will benefit him and Kildare Catholic College. Furthermore, a fresh set of eyes and new perspective will benefit Mater Dei Catholic College.

I will return to the College in Term 3 to resume my position as Principal of Mater Dei Catholic College and Simon will return to Kildare Catholic College as Assistant Principal.

P.S. I have it on good authority, at the time of his appointment, Simon gave an iron-clad guarantee he would barrack for Mater Dei in the Carroll Cup, Tracy Gunson Shield, Henderson Shield and other sporting competitions during Term 2. In my absence, please hold him to that.
