The Year 3 children have been looking at art from the country of Panama. Molas are a brightly coloured textile art created by the Kuna tribe from the San Blas Blas region of Panama. Mola means cloth or clothing in the Kuna language. These panels of stacked cloth are used to make women's blouses. Girls learn to make these at an early age and can spend up to 100 hours making one Mola!

In Year 3, we have been using paper to create our own Molas. We researched an animal or plant that is found in Panama and used that as our Mola.

The results are amazing!

In Prep we have been looking at line, shape and colour to create amazing pictures of our family.  We experimented with lines using oil pastels.  We then used dye to create the background colour.  To make our family we used stickers and focused on the shapes we need to create our family.  We used fine liners to add detail.

As you can see our family pictures are incredible!
