We are delighted to welcome Shi Hao Soo to Kingswood Primary School! 

Shi Hao will be working at Kingswood on a Thursday providing 1:1 counselling sessions to our students. Shi Hao has prepared a letter introducing himself to you all:

Hello there! I am Shi Hao from Malaysia, and I am a provisional counsellor focusing on mental health. My passion for helping others emerged at an early age where I would always find myself providing a helping hand, and I was also always curious regarding how individuals regulate their emotions and why is it they behave the way they do. With a strong desire in helping others and my interest in Psychology, this had resulted in me completing an undergraduate degree in psychology. I wanted to understand the underlying drive and causes behind the mind, brain and behavior, and hope to support individuals that are suffering from any illnesses. Throughout my tenure in university is where I acquired an interest in counselling for individuals experiencing life issues such as anxiety and depression, hence after completing my undergraduate degree, I decided to further my studies by pursuing a master’s degree in counselling. I am passionate in creating a safe space for clients to explore any form of issues or goals in life using a warm, genuine, and non-judgmental manner. I strongly believe that individuals’ youth development would directly influence their future behaviours and wellbeing, as individuals’ identities are developed and shaped at an early age. Thus, I believe that it is critical for children and adolescents to cultivate under a nutritious environment, this would provide them with a healthy and successful cognitive, social, and emotional development. Apart from my studies and work, I am also passionate in music and studying languages! During my spare time, I enjoy playing and producing music and also learning new languages. I am currently fluent in 3 languages, and I hope to increase it as it would allow me to communicate swiftly with individuals from various backgrounds!
