What's Happening at OLA!

Pre-Kindy

The children have read many Christmas books lately! Is it Christmas Yet?, is a book explaining all the steps which are required to make Christmas a special time of caring and sharing. The children have learnt about baby Jesus, decorated the classroom and a Christmas tree, brought in gifts for the poor, created Christmas cards and posted them in our classroom letter box and baked shortbread! Phew, we have even sung Christmas hymns and danced to Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. The best part is yet to come, and that is, performing in our very own concert and party, which we will share with our families on Thursday. This year, we have been busy making gifts to give to our family because we know how important it is to bring happiness to others at Christmas. Merry Christmas everyone and have a safe and happy holiday!

Kindy

It is difficult to believe that we have come to the end of the Kindy year. We have been thinking about all of the special times we have had together and all the things we have learnt. Kindy is a very special year and we know that these children will look back on their Kindy year as a time where they could be whoever they wanted to be, a time where they could play and be with friends, and a time for fun! We would like to thank the children for bringing their smiles and energy to our room each day. We know they are all ready for Pre-Primary now and we wish them well.

Year 1

Last Friday night, we had our End of Year Concert. We were very nervous before going on stage, however, we had lots of fun! We sang ‘Go Santa Go’ and we danced to ‘You’re Welcome’. It was very entertaining watching the other year groups and teachers perform their songs and dances.

In class, we have been reviewing what we have learnt throughout the year. We have also been preparing for the coming of Jesus. We have discussed the story of Jesus’ birth and completed lots of Christmas activities, we even made chocolate truffles for our families. Yesterday we had the OLA Water Fun Day. We had lots of fun getting wet and going down the slides.

We wish everyone a happy and wonderful Christmas filled with love, happiness and joy!

Year 3

We have been super busy in Year 3 over the past two weeks. The Scitech Spacedome came to OLA where we learnt a lot of interesting facts about different constellations. We sung and danced our hearts out at the Christmas concert. Our classroom has been visited by the glitter fairies, evidence of all of the Christmas art and crafts that we have been creating. With help from some wonderful parents, we managed to get all of our desks and chairs scrubbed clean in one afternoon. Thank you so much to those who were able to come and help. Finally, we had an absolute blast during our session at the Water Fun Day. Good times all round!

Year 5

We cannot believe the 2018 School Year has come to an end. We have decided to go out with a HUGE SPLASH! We all had an amazing time at the Water Fun Day and got thoroughly wet. It has been a fantastic way to end the year and we would like to say a massive thank you to all our parents for their fabulous help and support throughout the Year. We couldn’t have done it without you!

On behalf of all the Year 5s we would like to wish everybody a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
