Year 1/2 News

We welcome all our wonderful students back to school this week! We have missed them and look forward to being able to continue our learning journey and celebrating all their successes this term. We hope that you all had a restful and enjoyable break over the school holidays.

We returned for our final week of Home Online Learning last week, which ended with our 2 day Virtual Excursion. Students enjoyed making Ninja Warrior courses, exploring the Botanical Gardens, cooking pancakes, learning a dance for our Year Level Zoom Disco, building a cubby house, and participating in a Melbourne Zoo presentation.

New investigation areas have been set up in all 1/2 homerooms, and it was fantastic to see students engaging and investigating with their friends and peers. Students have been busy working in the Veterinary Clinic, making healthy smoothies, caring for injured wildlife in the rescue centre, and harvesting crops for the Farmer's Market.

So far this week, students read the story ‘How do Dinosaurs stay friends?’ and discussed all the different ways we can all be great friends. The parable of the Good Samaritan was also read, and students identified the ways Jesus suggested we can be good friends to others. Students enjoyed creating kindness rocks containing messages and beautiful decorations.  Students then placed them somewhere in the school yard for others to find. They discussed how someone may feel if they find a stone, and the importance of re-hiding the stone once it has been found and read.
