KINDY TURNED SCIENTISTS..........

UNE SCIENCE DISCOVERY BUS

On Friday the UNE Discovery Bus visited Kindergarten. They did a lesson on chemistry and all of the class got to dress up as scientist to protect themselves from the chemicals.  Kindy  looked at water molecules and went outside to pretend they were water molecules changing their state. They huddled together to represent ice, they held hands and spread out to represent water,  and then spread out and ran around to represent gas. Then students came inside to do an experiment to make elephants toothpaste. Then the UNE scientist made huge elephant toothpaste to discuss liquid turning into a gas and lit a small amount of gas which was noisy, a little scary but awesome!

Kindy thoroughly enjoyed this educational experience!

The Ugly Bug

Kindy have been learning about insects and in Week 4 they read the book ‘The Ugly Bug’, made an ugly bug out of paper plates, made ugly bug biscuits and wrote a procedure for their biscuits. The class thoroughly enjoyed completing these learning activities and they also enjoyed playing some games outside to run off some of their energy after they ate their ugly bug biscuits. Here are some photos of kindergarten students looking very proud of their efforts.

Early Stage 1/Stage 1 presented by our SRC student representatives

We are proud of all of our students and their work and although we have not been able to showcase our work to our families during Assemblies, in Term 3 our SRC Primary Representatives and Classroom Teacher Mrs Sarah Farmer came up with the fantastic idea of showcasing our students in the classroom via movies made by our students.  This video which went to publish in our last edition of the newsletter, unfortunately due to technical issue the video was not able to be watched by our families.  We hope you enjoy TAKE 2 of what our Early Stage 1 and Stage 1 students were learning at the end of Term 3.
