Congratulations

Friday evening 2 weeks ago I was at the Melbourne museum as a guest of the VCAA Seasons of Excellence as they presented the Top design awards for 2016.  As you may well be aware Paul Williams was representing St Bede’s College as 1 of  only 6 students from across Victoria in the Systems Engineering class.  Unfortunately Paul didn’t take out the award.   Paul can hold his head high, just to be nominated is a huge achievement especially when the level of the competition is considered.  Some truly amazing engineering and electronic skills on display.  

Not that class size matters, but the winner was in a class of his own.  A class of one.  Nice!

To Harrison Sly and crew member Brandon Demure are the current Victorian 29er State Champions. Their victory was achieved over the Labour day weekend after competing in a three day regatta held at Sorrento Sailing & Couta Boat Club.

Julian, Anthony, Josh and Jordan’s silent film, “Writer’s Block”, won Best Film, in the International Youth Silent Film Festival, organised by the City of Kingston in 2016. They also were best in cinematography, best directing, and best story and runner-up in editing.

Their film has also been short-listed into the international top 20 in the world, which will be presented in America, in Portland, Oregon in June this year. They will be meeting with a variety of people from the film industry, such as directors; as well as have the opportunity to experience a film production set.  They will be representing their film on a global level, competing against filmmakers worldwide, and are very fortunate and grateful to have the opportunity to do so.
